Canada investigates OpenAI

Canada’s regulatory watchdog agency is launching an investigation into OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT. Privacy commissioner Phillipe Dufresne said the probe is in response to a complaint regarding “the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information without consent." Dufresne said that it will be a main priority for his office to stay ahead of "fast-moving technological advances."

Following Italian regulators' ban on the AI application last week, the announcement from Canada suggests we’re entering the next chapter of any new technology’s lifecycle - it becomes so important that governments start hitting the brakes.
